One of the great struggles the American church faces is the misconception that christianity is “just like other religions.” In reality, christianity is not just another belief system. Every other major religion is an exercise in living up to a stated standard. It is a series of laws to be obeyed, or a list of things to be avoided. This is not christianity at all. Instead of reaching up to God, christianity is the product of God reaching down to man. Thus, christianity is not about accomplishing works, but trusting in the finished work of Christ. Tim Keller has put together a great comparison between religion and christianity that illustrates that wonderful truth. Check it out here.
I have always said that I don’t believe in religion… Just like religion blinded the religious people in the days that Jesus walked the earth we too are blinded and divided by religion. Please visit me I would love to get your perspective on my recent posts…
